We love K9SPORTSACK so much that this is actually our third backpack from them - the 2021 new model ROVER 2. We previously had the original ROVER and loved it so much we had to give the new model a shot as well!
The ROVER 2 definitely has upgraded to an even more sturdy backpack with more support for the back and more adjustable options such as the shoulder strap height and and the distance your pup is from your neck/head area depending on your size. What we love most about this backpack is the feature to now just use it as a hiking backpack or (throw all your belongings out and carry the dog instead) cause you know, no dog gets left behind! :)
Our only comment to note for anyone who is upgrading from the ROVER to the ROVER 2 is that the new ROVER 2 is a little bit longer than the original Rover so depending on how your dog fits in it, you may need a booster block. POPEYE fits in the original Rover perfectly with no booster but with the new ROVER 2 he needs a teeny boost (with a folded towel) and he's golden!
It's definitely the best backpack out there to carry your dog in for all kinds of adventures especially those pups who can't walk long distances and/or disabled! We LOVE this backpack and would highly recommend - you won't be disappointed!
It works well walking around. However, I hoped on a scooter, and she gets a bit skiddish at 40mph... once she hits or passes 80lb(50 now), might be just for walking around. Great product for sure
The Rover 2 allows me to still go on nice long hikes with my 3-month-old golden retriever. He walks for a bit and when he tires out, I put him in the pack and off we go.
I bought the Rover when it first came out a couple years or so ago for my Aussie. We absolutely loved it. When I saw K9 had remade the Rover, I didn't know how much better it could get. This thing is seriously incredible. I love how the shoulder straps can be adjusted to fit my body better and the extra padding they added to it. Fantastic quality. We'll be using it tons more as soon as it warms up.
My dog (cow dog mutt mix) is a rescue and was originally found abandoned on a farm, while he has enough energy to make the journey to my friends cabin in any time of year if you drive away from him on a vehicle he just stops and gets anxious. In the winter we have to snowmobile in and carrying a dog on a snowmobile is challenging (tried it the first time). It takes some convincing and treats don't hurt but once he's in and adjusted he made the whole trip (about 20 min) and was totally fine. If you do this as well be sure to go slow on the snowmobile we were paced by my buddies malamute (max speed 15 mph). It takes some adjustments to get my dog comfortable so it could be a bit wider for how deep it is but it isn't a major issue.
